Los Angeles, two contrasting perspectives

The cover picture captures the spirit of the city of angels where such wingless creatures fly shortly over sand and concrete in celebration of the body.

This essay is haunted by the ghosts of previous riots, fire and derelict, where the city of angels is made of the successive rings of hell, from abandoned centre to an outside goulag-style belt of high-security prisons; in-between, the ever-changing worlds of middle and lower classes, the rich entrenched in their luxurious neighborhoods and protected by private guards.

And then we have Philip K. Dick.
